Ravel nervously drove her car into the mall parking lot. She still hadn’t gotten used to driving in busy places like the town that had the mall. Well, it was busy for her and her small-town sensibilities. She was used to having the whole road to herself. Having to share it, and share it in much more cramped spaces, was nerve wracking. She exhaled a sigh of relief when she finally found a parking spot and put her car in park.

One nervousness was replaced with another as Ravel looked out to the suddenly imposing mall. Her brief purge cycle was just that, very brief. With the coming ad read from Stuffies being a major factor in her deciding to dive back in. If Ravel was honest with herself, she knew that maybe this was a bit too soon. She might have needed a few more days from her break. At the same time though, she knew it was only temporary. Another part of her wanted to move on rather than wallow in it.

Her outfit was much tamer than the one in her previous attempt. A white band t-shirt and a long dark skirt, though underneath she had on her trusty Discrete pull-ups. Part of her had thought about wearing a diaper to go buy more diapers, it would be appropriate. She still couldn't really look at the diapers she had, though. The Baby Bees print still made her feel weird. It was an association she hoped she would get over soon. The print was pretty cute she would hate it if she couldn't ever wear them. The sample pack also only contained two diapers and Ravel was hoping to get significantly more on her trip today.

She stepped out of her car with determination. She was going to get diapers today. She confidently strode into the mall with an anxious blush on her face. Her confidence was shattered by the sound of her phone getting a text message. The tension she was feeling made the sound startle her more than it normally would have. With a bit of annoyance Ravel dug her phone out.

Donna Sue: Watcha doin at the mall?

The text ended with a smug looking emoji. Ravel forgot that she and Donna Sue shared each other’s locations long ago, so Donna Sue knew she was at the mall.

Just testing out the car: Ravel

Donna Sue: Sure. At least you’re not waking Micheal up for your trip this time.

Ravel scrunched her face up. Donna Sue had figured out her real intention immediately. Not that it would have taken an expert detective to figure out why Ravel was at the mall. Last time she came here it was to get pull-ups, and she didn’t need to get pull-ups any more since they were being delivered. If she wasn’t going there for pull-ups there wasn’t a whole lot else, she would need to travel to the mall for other than diapers.

Donna Sue: I would have come with you if you asked.

It’s embarrassing enough already: Ravel

Ravel chose to answer bluntly, the cat was out of the bag and Donna Sue was too smart to have any kind of rug pulled over her eyes.

Donna Sue: Exactly why you might need a little support.

Donna Sue wasn’t wrong. Ravel was still a bundle of nerves as she wandered through the mall looking for the Balmy Subject where she bought pull-ups a while ago. After finally finding it, she found herself walking away from it instead of entering. She had underappreciated Micheal’s encouraging presence on her last trip here.

You’re right. :Ravel

Donna Sue: You don’t have to be nervous. You’re probably like the 50th person that’s gone in there to buy diapers today.

Donna Sue was correct. Ravel had taken a seat on a bench and watched as two girls exited the Balmy subject. One of them with a pack of diapers being barely contained in a small branded bag. That girl had none of the embarrassment Ravel had. Ravel was a bit annoyed with herself right now. She went on stream and wet a pull-up in front of several hundred people. Going in to just buy diapers should be a cake walk for her.

Yeah, I know. That’s not making it easier though. -_-‘ :Ravel

Donna Sue: You don’t have to do it today if it’s too hard.

No! I drove all the way over here in that crazy traffic I’m not just gonna leave: Ravel

Ravel took in a breath having psyched herself up with her text.

Donna Sue: Go get em’ gurl. ^^

Ravel moved quickly to keep her momentum going. She didn’t have time to think because if she thought then she’d get in her own head again.

She entered the Balmy Subject. The store was evenly divided between black emo, and bright pink girly things. It was in this bright pink section where a small section of diapers and baby attire were nestled.

The selection of diaper prints was pretty slim. Only two prints and thankfully neither were Baby Bees. Ravel reflexively grabbed a Pink Pony print since it vaguely reminded her of the Potty Training Princesses. With the diapers secured Ravel resolved herself to take them to the checkout counter. As she was making her way there though something stopped her.

Hanging on the one abdl rack next to the diaper section was something labeled as a “baby starter kit.” It was a white onesie with blue accents decorated with playful looking otters. Attached to the hangar of the onesie was a plastic bag with a light blue pacifier and a large baby bottle with a blue cap. It was a set designed to match each other. The whole thing cost about as much as the pack of diapers, which was a fair price, especially for buying in a store like this.

Ravel was still in her “don’t think just go” mindset so she grabbed the bundle and made her way to the register. She abruptly dumped the haul in front of the young woman attendant only barely interested in her job, though her face lite up upon seeing the purchase.

“Oh, this little onesie bundle is so cute,” the girl chattered as she rung up the two items. “I don’t think Outer Onesies sells this print any more. We’ve been putting together some of the older prints and some extra pacis and bottles to clear em out.” The girl finished ringing things up and noticed Ravel’s uncomfortable expression and put some things together. “I’ll see if we have a bigger bag to put these in,” The girl smiled noting Ravel’s embarrassment.

“Thank you,” Ravel said in a shaky voice.

“You know,” The girl said as she packed everything in the bag. “You can order these online, the packaging is super discrete and they have way more prints than we do here.”

“Yeah, well I just thought I’d see what you guys have,” Ravel managed.

“Not a lot unfortunately,” The girl said disappointed. “I tried to get the manager to order some of the new Baby Bees. Those have been my favorite recently, but we rarely get any of the new stuff.”

“Yeah, I’ve seen those,” Ravel said hiding her feelings effectively.

“Well, there ya go cutie,” The girl said with a smile a she put the large bag on the counter. Ravel got to paying with a blush. “Don’t worry it gets easier, buying diapers and stuff I mean. I don’t even think about it anymore. Everyone’s really chill about it these days.”

“Yeah, that’s what it seems like,” Ravel said vaguely. The girl looked at Ravel with a forgiving look. Her expression was one sympathetic to Ravel’s nerves.

“Well, I hope to see you in here again,” she said with purpose. “Have a good day, and enjoy the padding.”

“You too,” Ravel said as she quickly vacated the shop.

Ravel exhaled a long breath as soon as she was some distance away from the Balmy Subject. Unlike the last girl she saw leaving, her own bag effectively hid the diapers inside, showing only the store’s name. There wasn’t a lot in the store that would need a bag that big, but it was enough plausible deniability for strangers. Strangers that likely didn’t care anyway, but Ravel couldn’t escape the illogical fear of someone clocking and shaming her.

Mission accomplished. :Ravel

Ravel texted as she made a quick pace back to her car.

Donna Sue: Proud of you. What kind did you get?

Ravel realized that she didn’t even catch the actual print name.

Something with pink ponies. I didn’t look at the name I just kinda grabbed em and ran. :Ravel

Donna Sue: Did you get the right size?

Ravel stopped and in a brief panic looked inside the bag to make sure. Thankfully it was the same size that her samples were, but she definitely didn’t check in the store.

I think so? : Ravel

Donna Sue: You gotta work on this if this is gonna be a thing for you XD.

I was trying to get out of there as fast as I can. :Ravel

Donna Sue: lol.

Donna Sue: I’m glad you got your diapers. Why exactly aren’t you getting them delivered?

Idk tbh. :Ravel

Ravel paused to think for a moment. She was concerned with no one knowing she wore diapers, but when asked to pick out a valid reason why, she really couldn’t think of a good one. All her reasons were more about hanging on to the idea that she wasn’t an adult baby. The onesie in the bag said otherwise. Being an adult baby wasn’t even that far removed from whatever it was she was advertising herself as online.

Yeah, I don’t really have a good reason. It seems kinda dumb now that I think about it. Just feels like a line I don’t want to cross on stream. :Ravel

Donna Sue: It’s your stream it’s up to you what you do on it. You worried about Stuffie’s pressuring you to be more baby if they know you’re wearing diapers?

Donna Sue’s intention behind the message was clear to Ravel. Ravel was getting to be annoyed by her friend’s constant paranoia about her benefactor. The question did get her thinking though. Was that the subconscious reason she was keeping this from Theo? Was that even a valid reason? Theo hadn’t been particularly pushy. Just a usual kind of pushy Ravel might expect from someone working in marketing and trying to sell something.

No. :Ravel

The period in Ravel’s text spoke volumes.

Donna Sue: I was just asking, calm down.

As Ravel made it to her car, she took a moment to stop and use her pull-up. Remembering just now that she had used it on the way to the mall too.

“Shit,” Ravel cursed as she felt the warmth of the pull-up creep up her backside threatening a leak. She stood still for a moment making sure the pull-up absorbed all the urine without leaking. It held, but it was dangerously close. It might leak some when she sat down in the car. It might have been because she was just texting her, but she could almost hear Donna Sue’s voice scolding her for not grabbing a change much like she did when they went to buy her car. Donna Sue wasn’t there to give her the fresh pull-up she needed now.

Ravel chuckled and smiled. If she had been wearing diapers in her bag, she wouldn’t need a change. Bringing one along still sounded fun though.

Gotta drive home now. :Ravel

Donna Sue: Be safe.

Ravel hoped she could be as thoughts started running through her head.

“Oh little girl you are soaked,” the mommy in Ravel’s head teased. “It’s a good thing we just bought you some diapers because you need them. Now lay down in the back seat and mommy will get you changed.”

Ravel definitely wasn’t doing that last part. She was going to suffer through the soaked pull-up for the whole ride home. The thought was enticing though. She was biting her lip as she placed the bag in her trunk. That scenario was one to save for later.
