Celebratory music erupted from the game that took up most of the screen. After a long-fought battle, a large boss monster finally withered and fell on the floor, exploding into particles dramatically. The camera zoomed in to a cat girl, dressed in stylish angular robes with a staff that glowed with almost as many rgb colors as the pc that illuminated the small bottom corner window of the screen. In this corner of the screen, a cut out into the real world, Ravel donned a devilish satisfied grin and nodded to the camera in expectant celebration.
“Gg’s Mack gg’s,” ravel spoke into her headset triumphantly. The voice of Micheal cut through over the stream’s audio.
“Right back at ya,” Micheal replied in an equally happy mood.
“I’m gonna need more than a ‘gg’ after backpacking you through another ultra boss,” Ravel fired back. In game, a shrunken humanoid character walked over to Ravel’s cat girl character and gave an angry emote. Ravel responded by delivering her own head pat emote, giggling devilishly all the while.
“Oh, please backpack my ass,” Micheal shouted back. “I was doing hella damage.”
“Oh yeah?” Ravel questioned. “Now I have to stress that I don’t have a parser because that’s against terms of service, but if I did have a parser then I’m pretty sure it would show me with the biggest number, and you with a number that matches your height.”
“That’s just cuz you’re playing dark mage,” Micheal argued petulantly. “I’m playing archer. It’s a support class.”
“Are you supporting the floor?” Ravel responded. “Cuz that’s where your face was most of the time.”
“Jackass,” Micheal said giving up the argument. In response a flood of backpack emoji scrolled past in ravel’s chat.
“Love you too Mack,” ravel made a kissy face at the camera. “I’ll be sure to send you the mats I got from it; I don’t need em.”
“Much appreciated,” Micheal said cheerily.
“But I think that’s all the Fortune Fantasy tonight,” Ravel explained as she logged out of the game.
“Where we goin to next?” Michel asked.
“We probably aren’t going anywhere,” Ravel emphasized the we in her sentence. “I’m going to play some single player stuff.”
“And rob your chat of their favorite part of the stream?” Micheal was over dramatic. Ravel rolled her eyes as messages of ironic support for Michael came through the chat.
“Well not quite yet, you can stay for the ad read,” Ravel relented. She pressed a few buttons and suddenly the real-life view took up the whole of the screen.
“Oh, another ad read?” Micheal acting in fake surprise.
“Shut up you knew this was coming,” Ravel gave a look to the camera, and shook herself a bit. Though Ravel had built up a bit of a show woman’s edge to keep her character happy and jovial while she was on stream, she couldn’t deny that she was nervous for what she was about to do, but she pressed through anyway.
“Today’s stream is sponsored, once again, by Stuffies,” Ravel held up the package of pull-ups she had kept under her desk until this big reveal. “This is their new product: the discrete pull-ups. These pull-ups are designed to be subtle while still giving you the protection you can expect from an ab/dl diaper company like stuffies,” Ravel had to choose to ignore the jokes in chat as she kept reading the ad. “Whether you are new and looking to experiment, or are a dedicated baby who just needs a subtler option for a night out, Stuffies Discrete pull-ups offer a slim and form fitting design that is a subtle as it is reliable. This product also gets an official endorsement from CryBabyCereal,” Ravel was sure to emphasize official. “That’s right. Stuffies went out and got me an official recommendation from an expert, and she knows what she’s talking about. So please consider Stuffies Discrete and a big thank you to Stuffie’s for being a sponsor once again.” There was a quiet beat as Ravel finally read the chat and their teasing.
“All right guys are we really gonna do this again?” Ravel sighed in annoyance. “Look I’m really thankful to Stuffies for sticking around with me ok, so let’s try and keep the chat civil.” Ravel read a few messages with the same obvious assumptions that came with the last ad read she did.
“See I knew you guys would bring that up again,” Ravel played up the frustration a bit. “Oh, Bandsy wears diapers now. Bandsy’s a diaper streamer now. Well, I’m a step ahead of you here,” Ravel held the package of pull-ups up to the camera, focusing on the seal still on the package. “See unopened,” Ravel put the package back down with a smirk. “It’s not opened because I don’t wear them, and for the record there is nothing wrong with people that do wear them.”
“They just don’t get it I think,” Micheal cut in as he was still on the line. “I mean it’s a girl thing and your audience is just a buncha sweaty dudes.” The chat was filled with angry emoticons.
“I actually heard an interesting factoid from my contact at Stuffies,” Ravel said. “She said that actually most of their sales go to twenty- to thirty-year-old men.” There was a mix of shocked reactions and disbelief from the chat.
“So, what you’re saying is that chat is projecting,” Micheal stated boldly.
“Now I didn’t say that,” Ravel said with emphasis. “But that is an interesting thing you said Mack. Again,” Ravel spoke close to her microphone for comedic effect. “It’s totally ok if you are into it. Do what makes you happy.” There was another pause as the chat was filling with a range of different comments. “Ok guys we gotta move on. Say bye to Mack we’re going on to Starlight Sea.”
“See ya round Bandsy,” Micheal said in farewell, “And congrats on your sponsor.”
“Thank you for thanking me for my success,” Ravel emphasized thanking and success in that sentence before glaring into the camera playfully. Ravel then expertly moved the situation on as she booted up the retro rpg and the real-life view shrunk down to it’s position in the corner of the screen. Chat quickly forgot about the ad read, and Ravel silently congratulated herself on a diversion well done.
At the same time as Ravel’s stream, another distantly related stream was being held. A very popular streamer in her own circle was currently live. CryBabyCeral was currently streaming, and she had just finished watching a large compilation of internet fails. She giggled over the large purple pacifier that was in her mouth in a distinctly childish way.
“That one was fun,” Cereal giggled letting the pacifier fall from her mouth and get caught by the pacifier clip that was on the collar of her light blue onesie. “Say thanks to RiotShot29 for giving us that video guys,” Cereal waved into the camera. Her whole demeanor was not unlike a character from a kid’s show, which was apt considering how she was dressed. A pink skirtall decorated with birds was layered over her onesie and if the outfit didn’t give away what underwear she was wearing then her next segment would leave little doubt.
“Ok guys, daddy says it’s time for a diaper check!” Cereal sprung up from her chair excitedly and a flood of diaper emotes came into her chat. With little concern for modestly Cereal fidgeted with the snaps on her onesie a bit and then lifted it and the skirt up to reveal the diaper underneath. A very intricately decorated diaper with cute bunny prints. Cereal took a few moments squishing the used diaper for the camera. “I may have to turn around for you to see the eggs.” Cereal turned her back to the camera. Toward the top of the back of the diaper a few pictures of easter eggs in fade when wet ink were struggling to stay unfaded as the line of pee slowly encroached up the back of the diaper. After a few seconds with her back to the camera Cereal spun around. “Ok chat what’s the verdict am I ready for a diaper change?” she asked playfully. The response from chat was unanimous: there were still some eggs on the diaper so Cereal was not ready for a change yet.
“You guys are so mean,” Cereal was being playfully pouty. “Did you see how soggy I was. I have been an extra good girl today. I should get changies.” She smiled more as the chat rolled on responding to this little game she was playing. “It’s not up to you guys anyway it’s up to my daddy.” Cereal let a moment play out as chat seriously doubted that her daddy would let her change either. “He totally would change my diaper. He loves changing my diapers. Though, I guess he loves keeping me soggy too.” Cereal stuck her finger to her lip to make an overexaggerated thinking face. “I’ll have to wait anyway I guess,” she said as she snapped her onesie shut again and sat down in her chair, a gamer chair made to look even more like a child's booster seat than normal.
There was a long moment of silence as Cereal looked over some metrics in her monitor, suckling on her pacifier while her chat reveled in the cute little scene they got to be a part of. Cereal noted a few messages that asked a particular question.
“I see a few of you are asking about Bandsy,” Cereal said, her tone a little more mature then before. “Guess she did her ad read. Stuffies got me to do a little endorsement for her.” She let the chat run for a bit as some more questions came in. “Did I actually try them?" Cereal read off a chat question. "Yeah, I really did. I wore a pull-up, shocking I know. I had to get special permission from daddy to be out of my baby diapers for it. I used them too. I mean I’m basically diaper dependent at this point so it was inevitable. They held up pretty well. They’re pull-ups obviously, and a big baby like me needs a little more than pull-ups for my day to day, but they are surprisingly absorbent. I was impressed.” She again read the chat. “Yeah, I am sponsored by Stuffies, cuz Stuffies is a good brand. They got the best baby diapers around, and the best pull-ups too if that’s what you’re looking for.”
Cereal adjusted in her seat for a moment as conversation in the chat shifted.
“Do I know anything about Bandsy?” Cereal read another question from her chat. She pondered for a moment. “You know I don’t really, now that I think about it. I know she’s a gaming streamer, but I’m a little too diaper brained for just regular streams these days.” As she was talking Cereal pulled up Ravel’s stream on her own. “I know that game she’s playing. It’s cute,” Cereal smiled as she watched Ravel skillfully end an rpg battle. She glanced at chat again and noted a particular message.
“Now look that’s not a nice thing to say!” Cereal said seriously. “Just because Bandsy doesn’t wear diapers doesn’t mean she’s a poser, and that doesn’t mean you get to be mean to her. I should think that we would know better. It’s not cool for people to make fun of us because we wear diapers and it’s not cool for us to make fun of people who don’t. It’s only fair,” Cereal ended her little speech and the chat was filled with messages of support and hearts of various colors. “Since I’ve got to log off to get a diaper change anyway how’s about we spread some love. I’m sending you guys over to Bandsy’s channel. You all better be careful though,” Cereal warned. “She’s not baby brained like I am so you guys better be polite and keep the baby babble to a minimum while you’re over there. Don’t scare her too much.” Cereal shifted into a rehearsed sign off. “Ok everyone have a good night and stay baby!” Cereal smiled and waved bye as her stream came to an end.
Back in ravel’s stream, Ravel was plugging away at the mid-point of her rpg.
“Is the game getting any better?” Ravel read off a question from chat. “Yeah, actually I’d say it is,” Ravel went on to clarify. “I think in the beginning there just wasn’t enough skills to really be interesting, but know the classes are really filling out and there’s a lot of crazy combos you can pull off. I’m really turning around on it.” Ravel laughed a little at a chat message. “Yeah, just like fortune fantasy doesn’t get good until level fifty.” As she looked back at chat, she noticed her viewer count climbing unusually high.
“Woah woah chat I think we’re getting raided,” Ravel said with a smile. “Welcome to the stream everyone we’re playing Starlight Sea. Where’d you guys come from?” Ravel had to make effort in keeping up her persona as she read the response from the new chatters. “Oh, from CryBabyCereal,” Ravel paused a little processing that. “Well, uhh this may not be quite the stream you’re all used to.” The response from the new chatters coming in was positive, with words of encouragement and happy emotes. The response from the usual crowd was mixed with lots of surprise. Ravel herself wasn’t sure how to take it. She appreciated that her view count nearly doubled, but having half of her audience come in from a diaper stream wasn’t really doing her any favors trying to distance herself from that label. At the same time, she couldn’t really discourage that. That would cost her the new viewers and her existing viewers. The best thing she could do now was just play along with it. All this processing only took a second and Ravel was quick to bounce into damage control.
“Ok let’s play nice with the new comers chat,” Ravel said hopefully. “It’s just like I told you all earlier, do what makes you happy. We ain’t about to shame in my chat. Everyone just stay calm and be chill.” Ravel went back to playing her game some more but kept a watchful eye on chat. “But when you guys do go back to Cereal tell her I appreciated the raid.” Ravel didn’t get to play much longer when playful tone played out followed by a fun graphic.
“Thank you, Baloney Maloney, for the 50 gifted subs,” Ravel said shocked. “That’s very generous of you.” Ravel pulled up the message that came with the donation to read it. “Just give it time and you’ll be on Cereal’s bouncer hour,” Ravel blushed and giggled a little. “I dunno what that is like? Like a podcast? Well, I mean I know what a bouncer is. I might say yes to the not bouncer hour for sure.” Ravel read another message. “You don’t think she has a normal chair in her house? I mean I can bring a folding chair. But yeah, I’d be down for the totally adult and mature hour,” Ravel played the question off with a giggle and went to focus on the game again.
Theo smiled as she let Ravel’s stream continue, watching on from her fake account. A tactical donation from a member of the ab/dl community to warm Ravel up to them. It worked better than expected. Theo smiled in satisfaction.
