Chapter 14

Cassidy suffered a walk of shame back into the Callgahorn house. There was nothing to hide the sodden soiled diaper she arrived in. Cassidy was once again thankful that most of the people here would see her as a child. Though one who didn’t see her as a child was Marta who couldn’t help but laugh as she saw the Miqo in a soiled diaper be hurried off into Brita’s part of the house.

“All right sweetie let’s get you taken care of.” Allyson said quickly as she hurried Cassidy up the ladder to her family’s section of the house.

“Uh huh,” Cassidy said with a grimace on her face. Even with her growing fascination with diapers she definitely wanted out of this one. She had been squishing in it during most of the ride back to the house, and being on the galloping midnight did not help things.

Allyson looked around the room and briefly cursed herself. If she had thought about it she would have just gotten Cassidy over to the nursey and used the changing table there. The room was mostly empty these days and it had all of the supplies she would need to handle this quickly. As she looked around she didn’t even have a good place to put Cassidy on to change her. She’d have to just do it on the floor, thankfully she always kept a changing mat with her as she was often called on for babysitting detail whenever she came home.

“Wait here,” Allyson said quickly before running off to her room. Cassidy just murmured in response. She didn’t really have a choice, but she really wanted to get out of this diaper and into a clean one as soon as possible. She stopped herself for a moment as she noted how she wanted to be put back into a clean diaper and not just out of the dirty one she had on. At the same time though she had more pressing things on her mind and bottom. Thankfully Allyson didn’t make her wait long. “Ok ok I’m back, just lie down here,” Allyson said spreading on the soft changing mat.

Cassidy grimaced a little. Were they really doing this on the floor? As long as the diaper came off though Cassidy didn’t really care so she laid down on the matt.

“Paci?” Cassidy asked hopefully.

“Sure,” Allyson said with a little concern. Cassidy really just wanted something to take her mind off of this whole ordeal, and she had grown a little fond of the soother. And Allyson didn’t press her concern too much, because a calm Cassidy would make this whole thing easier.

It was quite the ordeal to get Cassidy clean and to get the dirty diaper off of her, but Allyson was a pro and got it done relatively quickly.

“Fank oo,” Cassidy said with a happy sigh as the dirty diaper was finally removed.

“You’re welcome sweetie,” Allyson said also relieved that she had moved on to taping the new diaper onto Cassidy. It wasn’t long before Cassidy was taped snuggly into a new diaper, this one decorated with a happy sun on the landing zone and several fade when wet suns that were dotted throughout. Cassidy stood up and was immediately happier to be in a clean diaper. “What are you going to do now that you go the rest of the day to yourself?” The question, while asked in a childish sense, brought Cassidy out of her more childish headspace to a pressing matter at hand and around her hips.

“I’m going to call Callie to figure out who did this to me,” Cassidy gestured to the diaper.

“Oh,” Allyson’s happy mood was a little soured. “You were serious?” Allyson felt a little bad. Cassidy had briefly used it as an excuse earlier when her attempt at magic malfunctioned, and she dismissed it as Cassidy just trying to come up with an excuse for misbehavior. If she had been treating Cassidy like an adult she would have taken her seriously.

“Yes I was,” Cassidy said quickly. “I can tell when it’s just me messing the spell up or it’s something else, and this was something else. Either a counter spell or poison of some kind, and no one was around to be casting a counter spell which means.”

“Would someone really poison you?” Allyson said shocked.

“Apparently,” Cassidy said making her way to Callie’s room. Allyson felt obligated to follow and figure out what exactly was going on. “I’m hoping Callie can help me figure this out.” Allyson and Cassidy had arrived and Callie’s room and Cassidy was setting up the scrying.

“Do you mind if I hang out?” Allyson asked being unusually meek.

“Yeah sure if you want to.”

“I’d like to help figure this out,” Allyson said. “I feel kinda bad about all this.”

“Why?” Cassidy said preparing herself. “You’ve been crazy helpful you just changed me out of … well you know.” Cassidy didn’t elaborate but they both knew what she meant. “Oh Marta gave me some cookies, there’s still some left if you want some.”

“Oh neat,” Allyson looks around for the box of cookies while Cassidy’s sense took on the weird vision before coming into focus on Callie standing in front of her scrying mirror.

“Babe,” Cassidy said happily seeing her girlfriend.

“Cas!” Callie was equally happy. “Woah what is that?”

“Oh,” Cassidy remembered that she was in fact in a diaper and wasn’t wearing anything to cover it. “Yeah that’s a thing.”

“Found em,” Allyson said happily holding the container, which only had two cookies left.

“Ally?” Callie was astonished seeing her sister’s reflection in the mirror Cassidy was using.

“Yeah hold on,” Cassidy moved her finger around and the tip of it glowed. “Can you hear now Ally?”

“Hear what?” Allyson stared perplexed.

“Me,” Callie answered.

“Oh Callie, Hi.”

“Hey sis. You been taking care of Cas?” Callie was mildly accusatory.

“Yeah,” Cassidy cut her off. “She’s been really helpful with all of this.”

“She hasn’t been going overboard with it?” Callie asked knowingly. Cassidy’s blush was accompanied by several subconscious images of the day that flashed before Callie’s eyes. “What is all this? Ally you better …”

“Callie Callie it’s fine,” Cassidy said soothingly. “Look it’s not the worst ok,” Cassidy blushed a little as she spoke. “I really don’t mind it.” Callie gave Cassidy a quizzical look. “Maybe we can talk about it later?” Cassidy offered.

“Ok,” Callie dropped the subject.

“But we can talk about who did this to me,” Cassidy offered. “I felt it a little earlier in the day. Something was messing with the flow of my magic which means someone had to have given me a poison of some kind.” Callie’s face turned into a thoughtful one. “The question is who.”

“Well it started before I left,” Callie offered thinking. “So whatever it was had to have been introduced to you before then.”

“Right but we had a whole banquet that night,” Allyson said. “There’s no telling what all she ate or drank there.”

“Yeah but I ate all of the same things, and I’m fine. You did too and you’re fine. If it was something in the food the whole house would be springing leaks.”

“Is it something that only affects Miqo?” Allyson asked.

“Possible but doubtful,” Cassidy said scientifically. “It’s already something super specific, to narrow that down to only effect Miqo and not Biscotti as well would be difficult. Maybe if I was an elf or a human or something, but generally what hits one Beastkin hits the rest of us.”

“So the question is, what did you eat that none of us ate?” Callie narrowed down the focus. “It would have to be something that they know only you would have eaten,” Callie was thinking out loud.

“Yeah,” Allyson said absent mindedly taking a bite of one of the cookies. “It couldn’t be anything at the banquet because no one else is having these problems.”

“And it had to be something that I ate while Callie was still here,” Cassidy added. “So what is something that only I would be able to eat that I got while Callie was still …” Cassidy stopped talking for a moment as she heard Allyson munching on the cookie. “The cookies!” Cassidy was unable to knock the cookie out of Allyson’s hands as her vision was filled with Callie’s vision but she could hear Allyson quickly spitting the cookie out behind her.

“Marta’s cookies?” Allyson said examining the container.

“I think so,” Cassidy said satisfied.

“But why?”

“That damn birthday party,” Cassidy huffed.

“She’s still got a stick up her ass about that?” Callie said astonished. “To go this far?”

“She’s already super eager to kick all of us out,” Allyson offered. “Maybe she thinks that this will move that along faster?”

“Or she’s just petty,” Cassidy offered in response. “Good news is we can take the last cookie to an alchemist and get an antidote.”

“What are you gonna do about Marta?” Callie asked.

“Up to Brit I guess,” Allyson carefully closed the lid to the box holding the last of the cursed cookies. “Not much we can really do since we’re on our way out.”

“Oh I can think of some things,” Callie said angrily.

“Callie,” Cassidy chastised. Callie gave a claiming sigh. “We’ll take care of it.”

“Ok,” Callie threw her hands up in frustration.

“Call you later?” Cassidy asked.

“Yes,” Callie commanded.

“Ok love ya babe.”

“Look who’s calling who babe,” Callie joked. Cassidy rolled her eyes and closed the session. “So now what?” Cassidy asked Allyson when her vision returned to normal. “I mean I could blow her up, or fry her brains, but I won’t do that to your aunt or whatever, you know unless you let me.”

“Well calm down Cas,” Allyson said with a slight giggle. “We don’t have to go that far. We really can’t do anything until the collaring is over.”

“Why’s that?”

“Well if the collaring doesn’t go well then the groom's family might not take Brita in.”

“Really?” Cassidy asked concerned.

“Yeah, but it’d have to be a really big thing, though I think exploding someone would do it.”

“Well shoot,” Cassidy jokingly cursed.

“We’ll need to bring it up to Brit regardless,” Allyson grabbed the container with the cookie in it and made her back down the ladder. Cassidy followed her. “So now we’re back to the original question I guess. What are we gonna do til she gets back,” Allyson stuck the cookie in a cold box in the kitchen to keep it fresh. Cassidy shrugged her shoulders. “Why don’t you help me fix those skirtalls that you broke?”

“Hey I didn’t break them we just went over this,” Allyson giggled as she made her way to the living room, with Cassidy following her. There really wasn’t much Cassidy could do to help but it was something to do while they waited.

“Let’s go try and find some sewing supplies, I’m sure someone around here has some,” Allyson made her way toward the ladder to the bottom floor expecting Cassidy to follow her. She turned back when she didn’t.

“I’m not going back out without pants or something,” Cassidy said smarmily.

“Oh right,” Allyson blushed. She might have gotten a little too used to seeing Cassidy running around in just a diaper. “Let me go check the nursery for something for you to wear.”

“The nursery?” Cassidy asked in a whine.

“We’ve got a rouse to uphold Cas,” Allyson reminded. Cassidy just pouted. “I’ll try and get something on the mature side for you.” Allyson gave a sly smile before descending the ladder on her own.
